The Role of Trusts in Estate Planning
Joseph F. Rowek, J.D., LL.M.
Joe Rowek has been an attorney for 32 years and is now a senior member of Summit Financial Resources’ superb legal team.
He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. in Accounting, and earned his JD from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. Joe received his Masters of Law in Taxation (LL.M.) from New York University. He holds a New Jersey Insurance License as well as the FINRA Series 6 and 7, and the 24 securities principals license.
Joe has 6 years experience with the Estate and Gift Tax Division of the IRS and 11 years experience as an Employee Benefits and Advanced Planning Attorney with Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. He also served as Senior Accountant with Main LaFrentz & Co, CPAs.
Joe has been a member of Senior Management of Summit for over fourteen years, where his primary focus is on applications of Income, Estate, Gift and Generation Skipping Transfer Tax rules, Business Succession and Continuity Planning, Insurance Structuring, and Retirement and Charitable Planning.
Michael S. Mirone, J.D., LL.M.
Mike Mirone has been a practicing attorney for 11 years. He is one of four full-time attorneys supporting the associates at Summit Financial Resources. Mike specializes in Estate, Gift and Income Tax Planning, and Business Succession Planning.
Mike counsels clients on income, estate and gift tax strategies and on the implementation of lifetime and testamentary planning techniques through the use of wills, trusts, family limited partnerships, private foundations and charitable trusts.
A frequent lecturer at seminars and continuing education classes, Mike has also been advising entrepreneurs and family businesses on the formation and operation of corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.
Mike has a B.S. Business Administration - Accounting from Boston University. He received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, and his LL.M. from the New York University School of Law. He holds a New Jersey Insurance License as well as the FINRA Series 6 and 7, and the 24 securities principals license.
Prior to joining Summit Financial Resources, Mike was a Tax, Trust & Estate Attorney at prominent law firms such as Hannoch Weisman, Sills Cummis Epstein & Gross, and Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus.
